Our informal insights and networking informal sessions offer sector insights and the opportunity to network with colleagues from across the Midlands area.
Gawthorpe Textiles Collection has been delivering a Connected Communities Project in partnership with their neighbouring museum, Towneley Hall. The ‘Sew Social’ group was established to address some of the issues that exist in Burnley around loneliness and social isolation as well as providing opportunities for people to volunteer at the Hall.
Linda Drury, Director of Gawthorpe Textiles Collection, will join us to talk about the project, and how they utilised the funding to create a programme to meet the needs of their local community.
Gawthorpe Textiles Collection is a renowned collection of global textiles located in the heart of Pennine Lancashire. It was founded by the Honourable Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth (1886-1967) for the purpose of educating, inspiring creativity, supporting wellbeing and for the preservation of traditional craft skills by sharing knowledge, skills and expertise. They now have over 30,000 items in the Collection from across the world.
