Our guest speakers are from Sir Joseph Banks Society Museum.

Our informal insights and networking informal sessions offer sector insights and the opportunity to network with colleagues from across the Midlands area.

The MDM team will be joined by Sir Joseph Banks Society Museum, a volunteer-run museum in Horncastle, Lincolnshire, as they share their fantastic work engaging audiences with climate change.

Their recent exhibition covered the loss of habitat, food production and, in some cases, evacuation of islands in the Pacific Ocean, linked to the museum’s collection of objects from Vanuatu and connections in the islands via the Melanesian Mission, who gifted the museum the collection. Being based in Horncastle, near the east coast of Lincolnshire, the museum and its community is in one of the most at-risk flood areas in the county, and already experiencing the impact of major floods at a regional and local level. The exhibition helped link international, regional and local problems caused by rising sea levels and flooding and their future impact on us. The exhibition’s message was ‘We are in Hot Water’ and aimed to convince visitors that today's problems in the South Pacific are already impacting us here in the UK and even in Horncastle.
