Learning Objectives:
Understand what is meant by equality, diversity, inclusion and equity
Have awareness of unconscious bias and how this and discrimination can negatively impact recruitment and selection within your museum
Understand how to mitigate discrimination and unconscious bias throughout your recruitment and selection processes, including:
- Role descriptions and person specifications
- Job adverts
- Shortlisting
- Interviews
- Record keepingKnow where to find additional resources, including templates, that you can easily implement within your museum

About the Trainer
Roots HR CIC is the UK’s specialist consultancy for human resources for the social sector, existing to serve those with workforces from 1 volunteer up to 250 employees.
They are founded on the belief that social sector organisations should have access to high quality, tailored, practical, legally sound and affordable human resources advice and services.
Who should attend?
This training is aimed at museum staff, volunteers and Trustees who are involved in recruitment in their organisations.
Whilst the content of the session will be focused on recruitment of paid staff, many of the fair recruitment principles will also be relevant to volunteering roles.
Maximum two delegates per organisation. Priority will be given to delegates from non-NPO and non-National museums in the Midlands which are Accredited or officially Working Towards Accreditation. However, if you are considering starting the process of working towards accreditation please contact us about booking a place as we are very keen to provide this training to everyone who may benefit from it.
