Sustainability in Museums: What does it mean and what can you do?

Cold toned photograph of a series of lightbulbs hanging on a wire. The lighbulbs are filled with water and set against a backdrop of bare winter trees.

An introductory workshop for museums in the early stages of engaging with climate action and sustainability delivered over two mornings.

In these interactive and participatory sessions, we will examine what climate change is, and its impact on heritage. Illustrated with case studies throughout we will examine what sustainability means in heritage, what to consider when working sustainably and how to implement sustainability actions in your work. Packed with practical actions that you can implement immediately, the sessions will encourage and inspire you to engage, learn more and reduce your museum’s impact on both climate and the environment.

The event will be delivered in two, two-hour workshops on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 January via Zoom. Using a range of exercises and interactive features including Chat and Breakout Rooms each workshop will include a short break. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and actively participate in discussion. If you have any concerns about accessibility or usability for these features please contact enquiries@mdmidlands.org.uk
