Sense of Place in Action: Tamworth Castle’s Community Heritage Journey

Tamworth Castle took part in Museum Development Midlands’ Sense of Place programme to strengthen its approach to community engagement, partnership working and heritage fundraising.

Through a combination of one-to-one support, training, peer learning and networking opportunities, the museum developed the confidence, skills and knowledge needed to deliver more ambitious, community-led heritage projects. The programme helped staff build stronger funding applications, deepen community connections and create more inclusive opportunities for local people to engage with Tamworth’s rich history. As a result, Tamworth Castle has strengthened its long-term project planning and laid the foundations for future heritage and audience development initiatives.
