This is a two-part programme intended to support a small group of museums to prepare for addressing their inventory backlogs. Attendees are expected to commit to both sessions in the programme.
About this event
The programme consists of two workshops and a limited number of 1:1 session with Collections Trust
Workshop 1 - Thursday 18 June
In this first of two sessions, we will examine how documentation procedures manuals and documentation plans, can be used to support inventory projects. We will briefly consider the Spectrum Inventory procedure’s minimum requirements and suggested procedure, to consider how to create a focused, practical and manageable project. Participants will be given tips for creating or developing their documentation procedures manuals and documentation plans, so that they can review these documents ready for sharing prior to the second session.
There will be opportunities to ask questions throughout the session, as well as share ideas with other attendees.
By the end of the session, attendees will:
Understand what constitutes useful written procedure for Inventory.
Understand how to plan inventory projects in a documentation plan.
Know where to find more information and guidance.
Before the session, attendees should:
Think about your current written procedures and plans.
Format
Interactive workshop with attendee input through tools such as Zoom polls, Mentimeter, Zoom whiteboards, discussion (attendees can contribute using Zoom chat and over microphone), and breakout rooms.
If you have any concerns about accessibility or usability for these features, please contact enquiries@mdmidlands.org.uk
Workshop 2 - Thursday 24 September

There will be opportunities to ask questions throughout the session, as well as share ideas with other attendees.
By the end of the session, attendees will:
Understand how their documentation procedures manual and documentation plan will support their projects and identify any general areas for improvement.
