Collections Trust: A brief introduction to policies, procedures and plans

About this event

The UK museum Accreditation standard requires museums to have policy, procedure and plan documents. But what goes into a policy, a procedure, or a plan?

This session will give a brief overview of the policies, procedures and plans relevant to sections 4 and 5 of the Accreditation standard and signpost attendees to further guidance.

It will cover:

• 4.2 Collections development policy

• 5.1 Documentation policy

• 5.2 The Spectrum primary procedures, including the need for a documentation plan and documentation procedures manual.

By the end of the session, attendees will:

• Understand the difference between policy, procedure and plan documents.

• Understand what relevant documents are required for sections 4 and 5 of the UK museum Accreditation standard.

• Know where to find more information and guidance.

This session is presentation style with a brief Q&A section at the end.

It is for museums and museum professionals in England and is suitable for beginners or those in need of a refresher.

Please note, we only allow two individuals from each organisation to attend to ensure access for as many museums as possible.
