Unlocking Data: Data collection guidance and best practice

Old wooden door at Calke Abbey.

Data is an important tool that can support our organisations to grow and thrive. Data supports evidence based decision making, strategic planning and is an essential advocacy tool.

About this event

In response to frequently asked questions about data collection (e.g. visitor surveying, participant feedback etc) raised in our Unlocking Data workshop programme, this session is designed to offer guidance on best practice for collecting information from your audiences in accessible and engaging ways, whilst also ensuring that the data you collect is robust and meaningful.

This event is fully funded through Arts Council England and is free to attend for those working in or with eligible museums in the Midlands.

As a result of participating, delegates will:

  • Understand the principles and practice of robust data sampling

  • Feel more confident about collecting data from their audiences in different contexts and for different purposes

  • Understand how to encourage audience participation

  • Know how to help their teams feel empowered and enthusiastic about audience data collection

The event will be delivered online via Zoom using a range of exercises and interactive features including Chat and Breakout Rooms, and will include a short break. Delegates will also use Padlet during the event. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and actively participate in discussion.

If you have any concerns about accessibility or usability for these features please contact enquiries@mdmidlands.org.uk

Delegates will receive access to supporting materials and resources.

This event supports the Arts Council England Dynamism Investment Principle
