Places are booking up fast for ‘Make the Most of the Trustee Role’, the launch of the new Midlands Trustee Network on Monday 30 September 2024 from 6pm-8.30pm. We’re pleased to announce a strong line up of speakers.

Our national governance expert speaker, Cathy Shimmin, is a Senior Training Consultant at the Directory of Social Change (DSC). DSC has been making charities stronger for over 40 years, providing training, resources, information and much more. As well as supporting the sector, DSC is a key advocacy body campaigning to promote the interests of the voluntary sector as a whole. As a highly skilled coach, trainer and consultant, helping hundreds of charity boards to improve their governance, Cathy really knows what works.

In this session she will share insights and recommendations on how to make the most of the trustee role, drawing on her 35 years of experience in the charitable sector.

Two experienced Midlands Trustees will provide insight and inspiration via the panel discussion, sharing their success stories, lessons learned and suggestions for making the most of the Trustee role. They are:

  • Katrina Pentlow, Chair of Trustees at Swannington Heritage Trust

  • John Freeman CBE, Trustee at Claymills Pumping Engine Trust

Our host for the evening will be Midlands Trustee Network Facilitator Lucy Marder, ably supported by Museum Development Officer Dawn Allman.

Places are limited for this special event exclusively for Museum Trustees in the Midlands.
