Museums across the Midlands are being encouraged to complete the Annual Museums Survey (AMS) before the deadline of Tuesday 30 June
The survey plays a vital role in demonstrating the social and economic impact of museums and provides valuable benchmarking insights for participating organisations.
Last year, around 700 museums took part nationally, and organisers are keen to see the Midlands fully represented in 2026. Museums that complete the survey will receive an Economic Impact Calculation, offering a powerful tool to support advocacy, strengthen funding applications, and highlight their contribution to the local economy.
Completion of the survey is also a requirement for organisations that have received Museum Development Midlands (MDM) support during 2025/26, including training, grants, or development programmes.
Registered museums should have received a unique survey link via email. Those needing support can access guidance materials, including a step‑by‑step PowerPoint, via Museum Development South West’s website, or contact the support team directly at museum.data@bristol.gov.uk
All eligible museums are encouraged to take part and help showcase the strength and impact of the Midlands museum sector.
